Christopher Austin

Christopher Austin, whose voice has been called "lustrous" (Washington Post) and "vibrant" (Baltimore Sun), has a broad dramatic and comic repertoire that spans Handel to Copland. He sings the role of Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor at the October 16, 2010 Hopkins Symphony excerpts concert and in Opera Vivente’s October/November 2010 full production. With Opera Vivente he has also sung Lord Magnifico in Cinderella, the title role in Lord Giovanni, Melisso in Alcina, Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, and Grandpa Moss in The Tender Land. Recently, Mr. Austin’s operatic career has taken him to Annapolis Opera, Opera Theatre of Northern Virginia, and Lancaster Opera, and to performances with the Arlington Symphony, Boston Symphony, and Philadelphia Singers. A Baltimore native, Mr. Austin received his vocal training at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.
