Karen Dilly, flute


Karen Dilly is in her third season playing second flute and piccolo for the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra. She graduated with an advanced flute certificate from the Peabody Preparatory Department in 1983 and performed with the wind ensemble and a baroque trio while there.

Ms. Dilly continued playing the flute at the University of Delaware where she received a minor in music along with a Bachelor Science degree in chemistry. While at the University of Delaware, she studied with Eileen Grycky and played in the wind ensemble and the Newark Symphony Orchestra. She also taught private lessons to children participating in a university-sponsored program. In her senior year, she was part of a duo that won the opportunity to perform Vivaldi's Concerto in C Major for Two Flutes with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Dilly enjoys soloing at area churches and weddings as well as performing with local theater orchestras. During the time she is not busy with her music activities, Ms. Dilly works as an associate scientist at Becton Dickinson Advanced Diagnostics.
