Thomas Gallant

Oboist Thomas Gallant is an award-winning artist who is quickly emerging as one of America's finest young solo performers. As First Prize Winner of the 1983 Concert Artists Guild New York International Competition, Mr. Gallant was presented in a highly successful New York debut at Carnegie Recital Hall, and was recently featured in High Fidelity/Musical America as an outstanding talent to watch. Mr. Gallant has performed at many music festivals around the world, including the Spoleto Festival in Italy and the Chautauqua Festival in New York.

In January of 1986, Thomas Gallant performed the New York premieres of works for solo oboe and strings by Krzystof Penderecki and Luciano Berio with the Group for Contemporary Music, and in the 1986-87 season, he made his Washington debut at the Phillips Collection. His upcoming engagements include the Dame Myra Hess Series in Chicago. Mr. Gallant is founder and Artistic Director of the highly successful Ohio Chamber Music Festival, which recently completed its third season.

Thomas Gallant was born in Clinton, Massachusetts, and attended Indiana University, where he was unanimously awarded the prestigious Performers Certificate. He lives in rural Ohio with his wife Jennifer (who is currently enrolled in medical school) and their dog Sugarbaby.
