Scott Gregg, conductor


Scott Gregg is currently assistant conductor of the Peabody Symphony Orchestra and the Peabody Concert Orchestra, under the direction of H. Teri Murai. He also serves as orchestra assistant to the Peabody Opera Theater. Prior to coming to Baltimore, Mr. Gregg was the music director and conductor of the Harvard Bach Society Orchestra, a professional chamber orchestra in the Boston area, working with distinguished artists such as cellist Yo-Yo-Ma, violinst Lynn Chang, and mezzo-soprano Nan Hughes. Mr. Gregg has conducted other orchestras in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Dallas, and Columbia, South Carolina. In 1987 Mr. Gregg was selected as a conducting fellow at the Aspen Music Festival with Murry Sidlin, where he conducted the Aspen Concert Orchestra. For the past two summers, Mr. Gregg was a Fellow at the Conductor's Institute in South Carolina, studying with Harold Farberman, Daniel Lewis, and John Giordano. A native of Massachusetts, Mr. Gregg is a graduate of Harvard College. He received his Master's degree in Orchestral Conducting from the Peabody Conservatory, where he was awarded a fellowship in 1990 and is currently completing residency for a doctorate in conducting with Frederik Prausnitz.
