Jennifer Kloetzel, cello

The phrase "rising star" cannot be more aptly applied than while referring to the exciting young cellist, Jennifer Kloetzel. Ms. Kloetzel has indeed been crowned this most prestigious of titles in prominent music festivals. After performing with Ms. Kloetzel at the La Jolla Chamber Music Festival in August 1992, pianist André Previn invited her to appear as one of his selected "Rising Stars" at the 1993 and 1994 Caramoor Festivals in New York.

In 1992, Ms. Kloetzel returned from London, England, where she was studying with noted cello pedagogue William Pleeth, as the winner of a Fulbright Grant. Prior to her European studies, Ms. Kloetzel graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School, and was presented with the Peter Mennin Prize for "outstanding achievement and leadership in music." While at Juilliard, she was a scholarship student of Harvey Shapiro and principal cellist of the Juilliard Orchestra. An avid chamber musician, Ms. Kloetzel has collaborated with numerous artists, including David Golub, Wu Han, Heiichiro Ohyama, Gary Hoffman, and Peter Neubauer. She has performed at the Sante Fe Chamber Music Festival and the Sarasota Music Festival, and is a founding member of the Aurore Trio.

Ms. Kloetzel was raised in Baltimore, where she was a scholarship student at the Peabody Prepatory, studying with Paula Skolnik Childress and Stephen Kates while earning a Pre-Conservatory Certificate. Her many concert appearances have taken her throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as to England, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, South Africa, Japan, Hong Kong, and China. Ms. Kloetzel currently resides in New York City, and has returned to Juilliard to pursue a Master of Music degree with Aldo Parisot.
