Ken Meltzer


Ken Meltzer is the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's Community Spokesman. In that capacity he authors the Symphony's program notes, serves as host of the pre-concert "Music and More!" Lectures and is active in the Symphony's outreach and education programs. Ken is the host and producer of a "A Night at the Opera" on WQED-FM and appears on the station's fundraisers and "Sunday Arts Magazine." He has hosted programs on WQED-TV and WQEX-TV. Ken is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Opera Theater of Pittsburgh. In Baltimore, Ken serves as the Opera Consultant to WBJC-FM and is the co-host and producer of "Past Masters" and the "Operafest," the latter a recipient of Baltimore Magazine's 20th Anniversary "Best of Baltimore" Awards. Ken is active with the Baltimore Opera Company as a member of its Repertoire Committee, a featured speaker for its "Supers Sundays" programs and has served as a judge for its Annual Vocal Competition. Ken has also appeared as a featured lecturer at the Kennedy Center for the Washington Opera's "Insights" program. He is a member of the adjunct faculty of Baltimore Hebrew University, where he teaches music appreciation. His classical music reviews have appeared in several publications, including the Baltimore Sun.
