Pianist Lois Shapiro is a member of the performing faculty at Wellesley College, where she teaches piano, chamber music, and 20th century performing practice. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory, where she was a student of Leon Fleisher. Subsequently, she received her Master of Music degree from Yale University and the coveted Artist Diploma from the New England Conservatory.

Miss Shapiro was the First-place winner in the Concert Artist's Guild Competition, which sponsored her in a New York debut recital in Carnegie Hall. She has performed as a soloist and recitalist in such places as the Phillips Collection series in Washington, D.C., Princeton University, Montreal, and Belgium.

Having made her first solo recording on the MLAR series, Miss Shapiro is now in the process of recording chamber music for AFKA Records and of making a solo recording on the fortepiano for Signature Records.
