Randal Woodfield, baritone

Lyric baritone Randal Woodfield's reputation as a versatile and accomplished singer began in his native Arkansas where he sang for ten seasons as a Resident Artist with the Arkansas Opera Theatre. Since moving to Baltimore to earn his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, his talents have become known throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Critically acclaimed in both opera and oratorio, Woodfield performs diverse repertoire including music by Monteverdi, Purcell, Handel, Bach, Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti, Puccini, Richard Strauss, Vaughan Williams, Orff, Britten, and new-comer Mark Lanz Weiser. These performances include appearances with numerous opera companies and orchestras in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., and in the midwestern United States. Equally at home in a more intimate setting, Woodfield performs some twenty or more solo recitals each year. Randal made his European debut as a soloist in the Salzburg International Chuch Music Festival and has sung in concerts in Germany, England, and the Czech Republic. This year, he begins his seventh season as a member of the Concert Artists of Baltimore.

In addition to his busy performing schedule, Dr. Woodfield is on the faculty of the Peabody Institute where he teaches voice in both the Conservatory and the Preparatory and lectures frequently in the Elderhostel program.
