Reuven Ramaty, head of the theoretical astrophysics branch in the Laboratory for High Energy Astrophysics of NASA/GSFC died of ALS in April 2001. He is the only NASA scientist to have a spacecraft named after him ( RHESSI, the Reuven Ramaty High Energy Solar Spectroscopic Imager). An obituary appeared in Physics Today (54) in November, 2001.
My photo was probably taken a decade earlier, in 1991 or so, when I began taking the staff photos.
