I had not done a photo shoot with Joel Lazar's Symphony of the Potomac since 1999 (when it was known as the JCC Symphony Orchestra and the shoot was of course done on film), when I was asked to do one with them in advance of the 2014-15 season. The timing worked out well, because by May 2014 I had a new DSLR whose new capabilities I was eager to try out (including 2.5 times the resolution and greatly increased low-light (high ISO) abilities). After an initial rehearsal shoot in May, I returned on the afternoon of a concert to shoot their dress rehearsal, and ended up shooting during the concert (something only possible due to the DLSR's new "silent shooting" mode (not silent, but still noticeably quieter).
These photos have ended up being used in multiple places, such as their annual season brochure, their web site, and 8x10 and 11x14 enlargements for publicity at fairs and concerts.
