Endowed Scholarship (1999)

In the fall of 1999, an anonymous donor created three endowed scholarships in the names of Michael Friedlander (physics), Robert McDowell (math), and Peter Reisenberg (history). The inaugural recipients were honored at a dinner at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Clayton in October 1999, with the three professors for whom these were named in attendance as well. (This was part of an evening recognizing many scholarship winners.)

In addition to the Friedlander Scholarship for an undergraduate student, an associated Friedlander Fellowship for a graduate student was created a number of years later.
