Kudos from Parents and Teachers

Just a sampling of kudos, kind words and appreciations

from Parents, Teachers, and others

Although Jessica did not like to toot her own horn, she was still ever so appreciative when people took the time to send her cards, notes, and letters. In some cases, she kept the cards in a dedicated folder in her filing cabinet. And when she retired from the Ethical Society Nursery School in 1999, she was given a 4½-inch thick album filled with even more such notes and messages.

What is shown below is but a very small sampling from all sorts of people with whom she interacted: parents, teachers, former teachers, grandparents, plus education coordinators and professors who brought student teachers to Jessica's schools to observe.

Dear Jessica, XXX and I both send our sincerest thanks for the delicious "Aunt Minnie Coffee Cake." Even through the wrapping, the aroma was very enticing. I also want to thank you for your efforts to grant us the generous bonus. It was a very pleasant surprise! It has been the start of another wonderful year due to your leadership and guidance. We all appreciate your support, warmth, and gentle manner, in which you guide us, and make our job fun.
I hope you are recovering and feeling better now.
Warmest wishes to both you and Michael for a happy and healthy New Year!

Dear Jessica and Tedi--
I just wanted thank both of you deeply for being so kind to us. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your letting me bring the baby to your class. Since I have baby-sitting problems, I really hate for XXXX to miss your class. He loves it, and I do too! I even think JJJJ (the baby) is getting used to it, as well! You've both been very helpful, sincere, and thoughtful to us, and once again I can't begin to tell you how very much I appreciate everything.
We look forward to seeing you throughout gthe year.
Thanks so much,
PPPPP

Dear Jessica,
I really enjoyed our visit on Monday—it was nice to catch up with each other.
Thank you so much for the sweet coffee cake. I wish you could’ve seen the expression on my face when I rolled back the tinfoil that covered the cake. Immediately I smiled—then I recollected holiday time of year at the Ethical Society Nursery School. It reminded me of your sensitivity and ability to comfort people, knowing that the cake was made with love—it felt like a warm hug around me. Needless to say, we are enjoying eating it, pacing ourselves so that it will last a few days!

My love to you and your family as you journey to the DC area, take care of yourself and be well.

Dear Joanne, Molly, Muriel, Ruth-Ellen, and Jessica.
We want to thank you for making this year such a wonderful one for AAAA. Thanks to your loving care, attention and extra effort that far exceeded our wildest dreams, we have had the joy of watching AAAA grow and thrive, gained confidence in himself and most of all, have fun!
We will miss seeing all of you on a regular basis next year and are already counting the days until we can send BBBB to you in 1990.
Thank you again for all of your help and support.
Gratefully yours,
(from a college coordinator)
Dear Jessica

Rather belatedly, I’d like to thank you and your staff for your kindness and hospitality in welcoming our Observation of Early Childhood Programs class to Temple Israel. The students had many positive comments about your school. In particular, they noticed the feeling of warmth and caring among the teachers and children and parents. They were also impressed with the initiative and independence of the children during free play time and the many exciting activities available for them.
To add a personal note it’s always a pleasure to visit your school and very affirming to see a high-quality program in action.
Fondly, MMMMM

Dear Jessica,
My husband and I would like to wish you a happy and healthy new year. This gift is an appreciation for your taking such excellent care of our son, TTTTT. We are looking forward to another rewarding year.
Thank you,
Very truly yours, BBBBB.
PS: your suggestion that I donate a gift to the school was taken into consideration, however, I thought it best to give a gift to those at school who have been truly wonderful with my child. You specifically are an important person in his life as are his two teachers. You have done good.
Dear Jessica,
You have created a wonderful wonderfully warm and loving atmosphere for our children’s growth. A simple gift cannot adequately thank you for all of the confidence and self-esteem they have gained because of your concern and caring. We hope you have as much success in future endeavors as you have had with our children.
We love you!

Dear Jessica:
I wish you could have been around to hear the student's responses when they left the preschool on November 21. I heard nothing but compliments about the teachers and the school setting. The students were so pleased that you and your teachers were willing to share with them. In addition every one of my students, including the most skeptical secondary education candidates felt that they had learned something about how much learning goes on with young children.
It is important to me that preservice [sic] teachers see good models of teaching. They saw excellent ones and a lively curriculum in action too when they visited. My students benefit immensely from this kind of experience.
Please convey my gratitude to the teachers for both their hospitality and their willingness to share in the development of our profession.
Sincerely,
Dear Mrs. Friedlander,
Being away from home January and February, I just came across your invite to attend Grandparent Week at the Nursery School. I recall my pleasant visit with you in September and how impressed I was with both the facilities and the wonderful attitude of the staff towards the children. Keep up the good work. I’m so pleased that HHHHH is part of your program. I cannot attend, but we will be with you in Spirit.
Sincerely.

Dearest Jessica,

This is just a token of our appreciation for how good you have been to our children (and us, just as much) for all these years. SPOUSE and I hold you in the highest esteem as a teacher and as a human being. I will always be grateful for your sensitivity and understanding when I really needed it. I do hope that we remain friends and keep in touch.
Thanks for everything!
Love, NNNNN

Dear Jessica,
We both admire so much the devotion and patience and love that you put into your directing of the preschool and are very happy to have our children attend your school. Thanks also for your support and understanding with our little and big problems!
Happy Chanukah to you and your family and of course a very happy new year filled with lots of joy for you all.
Fondly,
Dear Jessica,
It is difficult for a parent to put into words the appreciation they have for an individual who aids in the nurturing of their child. GGGGG has grown and developed in such a positive way this year through your daily guidance and caring. We are truly grateful.

Thank you very much. Best wishes for a wonderful summer.
Fondly,
Dear Jessica,
Whatever the outcome is of “The TTTT BBBB story“, I would like to tell you that I think you’re the most special person and most dedicated, warmest, and capable educator I’ve ever known. Your calm, sincere and able leadership at Temple Israel Nursery School has had such a positive influence.
Personally, I know LLLLL has just thrived in the atmosphere for which you are so responsible. I could really never thank you enough for the time and concern you have shown for LLLLL, SPOUSE, and me, and even for our many trials with FFFFF! You’re truly a remarkable individual.
Again, thank you so much for coming into our lives at such an influencing time in LLLLL’s life. We are also so much richer because of you.
Fondly,
